Welcome!

I use this blog to illustrate what I'm learning during my year-long apprenticeship at Keala'ola Farm on the Big Island of Hawaii.

the secret's out

well....it's been awhile. i'm an awful liar, so I figured not writing anything would be better than fibbing. But when Mom began suspecting I was in a cult (she's under a lot of stress) I decided I could be vague and evasive no longer.
So.......I'm headed home to Michigan. It's true. I've been writing my mother emails as though my days consisted of lettuce harvesting and hawaiian sunshine, but I have been en route to Kzoo for the past week or so, a nourishing stop over in California before heading to the midwest.

I am so grateful to be able to be at home with my family. This is the important stuff, as Uncle Vince says, and it's a quotidian affirmation to listen to my heart. In political action we talk about the head, heart and hands, three distinct and vital aspects to activism. I apply that concept to my daily life--feeling my reality, thinking things through rationally, and taking the actions I deem necessary as a result of those emotions and thoughts. So I am homeward bound, family bound, love bound.

I send support and energy to you all; the blooms of spring speak of new life, new possibilities, and hope.

love,
molly
